Jet Milling Technology is a pulverizing method that does not require grinding media; it utilizes high-speed collisions between raw materials to achieve particle size reduction. This technology is suitable for crushing dry powders, and it is currently the most mature and widely applied solution in dry & ultra-fine powder pulverization processes.
While SGN has been specializing in wet grinding, we have also engaged in the R&D of dry milling, in order to expand our service coverage and to build a complete technological landscape in the field of ultra-fine grinding.
The core operational principle of a jet mill can be summarized as “air-driven self-pulverization”.
The equipment employs high-pressure air as a source of momentum; as air passes through a specially designed nozzle, it accelerates and forms ultrasonic jet flows. Then, jet flows from different directions push powdery materials into the grinding chamber, causing intense powder-to-powder collisions, thereby achieving ultra-fine pulverization.
Above the crushing area there is a high-precision classifying wheel that spins and generates a centrifugal force. As the pulverized powders are pushed upwards by jet, large-sized powders are influenced by the centrifugal force that prevents them from entering inside the wheel, so they are returned to the grinding chamber for further size reduction. Meanwhile, small powders meeting the fineness requirement are less impacted by the centrifugal force, they get to pass through gaps of the classification wheel and move to the discharge area.
The whole machine system operates in a fully enclosed, negative pressure state, ensuring no dust can leak, and no pollution source can enter during production processes.
The pulverization process does not involve blades and grinding media: materials achieve self-grinding in pure air flow.
Jet milling does not include grinding media and temperature rise, suitable for both high-hardness and heat-sensitive materials.
Equipped with a high-precision classifying wheel, the product’s target fineness can be accurately controlled by adjusting the rotation speed.
The fully enclosed system provided high-speed, high-pressure, and clean jet flows, securing product purity.
