SGN fluidized bed air jet mill works by passing compressed air through a freeze drying and filtration process, then directing the purified air through a grinding nozzle into the grinding chamber at supersonic speeds. This creates a fluidized state for the solid material. The accelerated material converges at the intersection of air jets from multiple nozzles, where intense collisions, frictions, and shearing occur, resulting in ultra-fine grinding of powders.
The jet mill includes a classifier to separate processed materials: particles meeting required fineness pass through the gaps of classification wheel, while those do not meet requirements returned to the grinding chamber for further size reduction.
The operation of jet mill features no temperature increase and no contamination, since the crushing process involves materials colliding themselves under the action of airflow without introducing any other external medium, no heating is needed, and no waste is produced during operation. Also because the primary crushing force comes from particle-to-particle impact and collision, it is capable of crushing materials with Mohs hardness of 9 or higher; high-speed particles rarely collide with wall surfaces, thus the equipment itself has a low wear rate.
In addition, SGN's jet mill runs at lower cost, it saves 30% to 40% energy compared with other jet mills. It enables using inert gas as the medium for pulverizing flammable and explosive materials. It is also equipped with an advanced touchscreen and PLC, enabling automated control.
